Hawaii

Hawaii is a unique American state for so many reasons, both geographical and political. It is the state which is furthest from the heartland of America, and one of only two states which does not have a border with another state. The climate is tropical, as you would expect when you see its location in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. The unique climate and location of the archipelago make it a magnet for tourists and retirees, as well as an important base for the military. There is a unique language here, and even the English which is spoken is noticeably different.

Although this group of islands has its own workforce and economy, and is active in exporting locally grown and manufactured produce, it is as a tourist destination for which the islands are best known. Anyone searching for a tropical paradise with a perfect climate, palm trees and miles of white sandy beaches will have this part of the Pacific near the top of their list, and the islands have managed to maintain the perfect balance between development for tourism and retention of natural beauty and natural features.

Living and working in Hawaii is an experience which the locals can often take for granted, although there is a large percentage of the population which leaves the island shores to carry on their education in mainland America. This is not necessary , as the islands have their own education system, including a university system. Many of the native workers leave the school system at the earliest opportunity to enter the workforce, and tourism has been an important factor in bringing the local economy up to a higher level.

Finding accommodation on the Hawaiian islands can be easy or difficult depending on your budget and what you are looking for. If you are a native looking for a permanent place to live, you will probably find that it is extremely difficult to find anything within a reasonable price range. Many people who live on Hawaii have to share with extended family, so that the entire group can afford to live in reasonable accommodation. There are very few Western style apartments available even to the higher earners in the population.

Visitors to Hawaii will find that they are far better catered for, as is necessary given that the economy depends to such a large degree on tourism. All of the major hotel chains can be found in the most populous areas, and on the most popular beach locations. It is also possible to find smaller, local places to stay, and these can give you a far better and more realistic experience of the authentic local culture. Tours are regularly organized to all of the smaller outlying islands, giving you the chance to explore all of Hawaii.
